HOW TO REGISTER/OPEN DATES FOR COURSES

MACO registration is provided on a course by course basis. Access to the body of the website is provided to participants who have paid for a course on offer. Once you are a course participant, you will retain your access to the course documents forever.

To register for a specific course, open the course folder in which you are interested in the menu to the left and click the link detailing registration information. If the course is available, there will be a paypal link at the bottom of the page. Each course cost, requirements, and dates are listed on that same course specific page.

Course dates are in the title of the course folder as well as in the registration link for each specific course.

Here's a checklist for MACO registration: 1) Note the course and dates you are interested in. 2) Click the course folder on the left menu, click the paypal button. 3) Once you've sent payment, a login ID/pass will automatically be mailed to you by the system. 4) That login gives you access to your course and the associated materials. 5) Access to a reefs.org forum specific to your course is also provided (this requires a separate login/password through the reefs.org forums).

HOW DOES MACO WORK?

MACO is a composite website that is set up to offer individual courses to participants. What that means is that each course you pay for provides access to that specific course (but not others) so that you can access all materials, upload any required items, and generally participate in the course. You will also be provided with access to a forum that is specific to your course so that you can provide status updates, debate topics, and generally interact on your own time with other participants and your instructor. Each week a chat/talk session is provided (time determined on a course by course basis) where you can receive new material, see/listen to lectures, and ask questions of the instructor. Each week's chat transcript will also be stored on the MACO website for you to read if you miss the session.

Each course's format will vary depending on the topic, material to cover, and instructor preferences. Fabrication courses will require hands-on work in between chat sessions on a weekly basis, whereas teaching courses may require reading (provided most often).

ADDITIONAL COSTS

Any additional costs will be stated on the registration page for each course. Typical additionals include: textbooks, website registrations, or materials for fabrication courses.
